Quick comparison
| Method | What it improves | Equipment / limit | NPC |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soul Gems | Randomly increase existing bonus-potential lines | Eligible equipment with bonus lines and slots; one slot per use | T-1337 scripts |
| Power Scrolls | Random values added to bonus-stat fields | Regular non-cash equipment; successful rolls use slots | NPC 9400219 |
| Shards | Random values added to bonus-stat fields | Cash/NX equipment; successful rolls use slots | NPC 9400221 |
| Enhancement Scrolls | Random values added to bonus-stat fields | No upgrade slots; NPC cap is tier-based (10-75) | NPC 9000046 |
A practical order
- Identify the equipment category first: Power Scroll NPC 9400219 lists non-cash equipment; Shard NPC 9400221 lists cash equipment.
- Soul Gems target existing bonus-potential lines. Power Scrolls and Shards change the equipment's bonus-stat fields.
- Bulk Power Scroll and Shard attempts spend an item on every roll, but a slot only on a successful roll.
- Enhancement NPC 9000046 does not spend slots. Its Java routine caps enhancement at the equipment tier clamped to 10-75; normal item use has a different cap of 50.
NPC text and implementation do not always agree. The training simulator follows the active script-to-Java path and keeps every result local to the browser.
Soul Gems: bonus-potential percentages
Soul Gems improve existing bonus-potential (bpot) lines. For each successful use, the server independently rolls an increase for every positive line among Overpower, Total Damage, Boss Damage, Ignore Enemy Defense, Critical Damage and All Stats.
- Overpower (OP): the Overpower percentage line.
- Total Damage (TD): the Total Damage percentage line.
- Boss Damage (BD): the Boss Damage percentage line.
- Ignore Enemy Defense (IED): the Ignore Enemy Defense percentage line.
- Critical Damage (CD): the Critical Damage percentage line.
- All Stats (AS): the All Stats percentage line.
Where: the T-1337 script family. The active 9400039 script selects a gem/protection pair, asks for the equipment and quantity, then consumes one upgrade slot per applied pair. The increment range is selected by the script, not by the equipment tier; double-slot equipment doubles the range.
Other stat source: the community guide also points to Space Pirate Commander, where Reward Points, Donation Points or Infinity Points can be used to gain more stats. Check the current NPC menu for options and costs.
Examples named elsewhere in the guide include Basic, Super, Kaotic and Golden Soul Gems. Their exact line values, item compatibility and success rules are not documented in the upgrade section.
The 9400039 script's 5% chance variable is not used by the application method: its gem attempts do not roll a success/failure check. A separate 3006549 script offers different gem/protection IDs and increment tiers. Read the NPC's current options because these script variants are not interchangeable.
Power Scrolls: flat stats on regular equipment
NPC 9400219 runs a bulk Power Scroll flow on non-cash equipment with available slots. Each requested scroll is rolled against its success chance from the item data. Successful rolls spend slots; failed rolls still spend scrolls.
- The bulk routine adds a random value to each positive STR, DEX, INT, LUK, WATK, MATK, WDEF and MDEF bonus-stat field.
- The NPC scales the scroll's base range by
1 + tier × 0.01, then uses the range midpoint as bulk power. - Scroll success chance is read from the server's item data; it is not printed by this NPC menu.
- The simulator asks you to enter the success chance shown by the item's current tooltip/data.
Named examples in the boss guide include Super Power Scroll 25%, Absolab Power Scroll 20%, Power Enhancement Scroll, Super Power Enhancement Scroll and Extreme Power Scroll. These are examples, not a complete catalog or a guaranteed roll result.
Shards: flat stats on NX equipment
NPC 9400221 lists cash equipment with slots and uses one of nine Power Shards. Each attempt rolls its fixed success rate; a miss consumes the shard, while a success consumes a slot and adds random values to positive bonus-stat fields.
- Rates by item ID: 2585000 100%, 2585001 75%, 2585002 50%, 2585003 25%, 2585004 10%, 2585005 5%, 2585006 2%, and 2585007-2585008 1%.
- Displayed base power ranges from 10-20 through 1,000-2,000; the selected midpoint is multiplied by
1 + tier × 0.025. - Apply with Adler's NPC 9400221 bulk flow. Only successful rolls reduce slots; every attempted shard is consumed.
Global help text says Shards can destroy NX equipment and reset potentials. The active 9400221-to-Java path inspected here does not call a destruction or potential-reset routine; this guide and simulator describe that active path only.
Enhancement Scrolls: slot-free flat-stat progression
NPC 9000046 consumes one scroll per processed attempt. A successful roll increases the enhancement count and bonus-stat fields; a probability miss consumes the scroll without increasing the count or spending an upgrade slot.
- Scroll table: IDs 2049300-2049308 set per-attempt ranges from 5-10 through 2,500-25,000, with success rates from 100% down to 1%.
- Slots: this NPC does not consume upgrade slots.
- NPC limit: the Java routine clamps equipment tier to 10-75. The NPC dialog says 25, so the live text and routine disagree.
- Normal item use: a separate path caps enhancement at 50; scroll IDs 2049304 and 2049305 can apply multiple enhancements per use there.
- Where: Master Enhance NPC 9000046.
NPC 9000046's range and success table is reflected in the practice panel. Stat gains depend on the current enhancement count; the first successful attempt may add little or no stat because the server's formula multiplies its upper range by the current count.
